Joseph Polossifakis Wins Silver in Men’s Sabre Satellite event in Helsinki

Canadian Men’s Sabre athlete Joseph Polossifakis continues to make his comeback following a concussion last season.

Polossifakis from Montreal, Quebec stepped onto the podium in the FIE Satellite competition in Helsinki, Finland, earning a silver medal.

Polossifakis defeated Pavels Guzanovs (Latvia) in the round of 16, Herna Jensen (Venezuela) in the round of 8 and finally Ricardo Busamante (Argentina) in the semi-finals, all by a score of 15-9.

His first loss of the day came in the finals, where he was defeated in a close bout with Alexender Crutchett by a score of 15-13.

The event was a good warm up for the Senior Pan Am Fencing Championships, scheduled to take place in Santiago, Chile from April 17-26, 2015.
