Return to fencing group-training update
May 4th, 2020
Please read the following points carefully:
On April 28th, 2020, the CFF released some hygiene mitigation measures to help with return to play. However, as new information is being made available to us every day, we are realizing that a lot more stringent and thoughtful mitigation measures are needed to take place. Please read the following points carefully:
- Return to fencing cannot resume until all social distancing bans are lifted.
- Social distancing bans and other public health-related advisories are set by the municipal, provincial, and national governments.
- At this point of time there is no definitive date when to return to sport as we have to abide by our governments’ direction.
The CFF is now working closely with Sport Canada/COC/CPC and other national sport bodies in guiding a thoughtful return to sport process that protects the health and safety of athletes, coaches, and practitioners, while respecting the public health authority guidelines at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels.
Please be thoughtful and understanding that there is a lot of information being disseminated, and updates that are coming out on a daily basis regarding how to proceed. As of today, we realize that this update was inconclusive, although please rest assured that we are working diligently to take the appropriate and safe steps in returning to sport, as new information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience.
