Foil High Performance Camp

On August 31 – Sep 4.   Ottawa Fencing will be hosting our 11th  annual High Performance Camp.  The camp will be held at the RA Centre in Ottawa. 

 

Camp Hours: 10:00-5:00 (Optional evening sessions on Monday and Thursday 7:30-10:30)

Accommodation: Out of town fencers are asked to contact Paul ASAP to help coordinate billeting. ([email protected])

 

Development and competitive level fencers are invited to participate in the HP fencing camp.  Several activities and lessons will combine all levels.  This is a camp for all ages.  If your son/daughter is interested in competitive fencing this is a great introduction, and opportunity to train with Canada's Best.  Camp activities include fencing lessons, bouting, fitness training, annual goal setting, mental performance activities, nutritional strategies, team building activities, and a mini tournament.  The goal of this camp is to introduce and set the foundation to enhance training strategies and discipline that leads towards Ottawa Fencing's competitive culture of excellence.

Participants in the camp will include National and Provincial champions, and elite fencers in the Canadian High Performance program.

Coaches are Paul ApSimon and Parviz Haghandish.

Paul has coached the Canadian Women’s Foil Team since 2010, and the Canadian Modern Pentathlon fencing discipline.  In those 4 years the team has achieved 2 Senior World Championship top 8 results a Junior top 4 and top 8, two silver medals at the Junior World Championships and the number 1 junior ranked fencer in the world.  Paul has coached at the Sydney 2000 and London 2012 Olympics. 

 Parviz is currently an RA Fencing Club Coach, and a former coach of the Iran National Foil Team.
