Montreal, February 24, 2014 – Four Canadian fencers walked away with gold medals while two other claimed bronze, Saturday and Sunday, at the Junior and Cadet Pan Am Championships being presented in Guatemala.

In the cadet category, Quebecois épéeist Alexanne Verret and British Columbian foil fencer Dylan French took home top honours on Saturday, while the Ontarian foil fencer Angela Li and the British Columbian épéeist Qifan Wang climbed to the highest step of the podium, Sunday.

In the sabre competition, Albertan Madison Thurgood and Ontarian David Brown also made their way on to the podium, each coming away with bronze medals.

The best junior Canadian fencers will compete on Monday and Tuesday in Guatemala, while the team competitions, also composed of junior athletes, will take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
