CANADIAN OLYMPIANS HEADING TO INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC ACADEMY IN GREECE
TORONTO – Today, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) announced the names of the three participants who will travel to Greece from June 15-29 to partake in the International Olympic Academy (IOA)’s 54th International Session for Young Participants. Two Olympians were selected for the session after submitting applications last month. The Olympians are: Martine Dugrenier andPhilippe Beaudry.
“It is an honour to have been selected as the Olympian to attend the IOA’s International Session for young Participants,” said Philippe Beaudry, two-time Olympian. “Education plays a key role in the growth and continuation of the Olympic Movement so this is a great opportunity to learn and teach others.”
“I have been dedicated to the Canadian Olympic Movement for as long as I can remember,” said Martine Dugrenier, two-time Olympian. “I am so thrilled and humbled to be joining Philippe on this incredible adventure!”
The IOA unites some of the world’s most vibrant young leaders in sport and physical activity from approximately 100 nations. The session will focus on Olympic Values with a special look at Respect for Diversity.
The Canadian Olympic Committee will also be sending their Community Editor, Steve Boudreau, to participate in the session.
During the session, Philippe and Steve will be sharing their experiences via Twitter and interested parties can follow their adventure in Olympia via @phil_beaudry, @Sboudreau, throughOlympic.ca, and the Canadian Olympic Team Facebook page.
