May 25, 2014 – Montreal native Maximilien Van Haaster was the top Canadian foil athlete this weekend, at the Havana World Cup in Cuba, where he finished in the top 16.

Van Haaster’s good run came to an end in the round of 16, when he lost 15-10 against Andrea Cassara from Italy, currently ranked fourth in the world rankings.

To make the top 16, 38th world-ranked Van Haaster defeated italian Edoardo Luperi 15-10 in the round of 64.

In the round of 32, Van Haaster was victorious against Alexey Khovansky from Russia, ranked 17th in the world.

Canadian Anthony Prymack also made the round of 64.  The Montreal native lost 15-10 against Michal Majewski from Poland to finish in the top 64.
