Benjamin Manano Announced as Chair of the Wheelchair Fencing Committee
The CFF is pleased to announce that Benjamin Manano has been selected as Chair of the Wheelchair Fencing Committee.
Manano has worked as Weapon Leader and National Coach for Men’s Sabre since 2014 and is also a Provincial coach for the Quebec Fencing Federation. These functions have given him much valued experience in national program development which he will be able to apply to the Wheelchair Fencing Program.
Manano, who works out of Fencing’s high performance centre in Montreal where several of Canada’s top wheelchair fencers train, will work closely with National Coach Iulian Badea, the athletes and other wheelchair fencing experts to manage and develop the program.
Manano hopes to instill the values of communication, collaboration and respect in the development of the program. He credits the great work and performances of our past athletes and coaches for having built a great base for the program which gives the new Committee a great starting point to work from.
“I am extremely happy to have been selected as Chair of the CFF Wheelchair Fencing Committee,” stated Manano. “The Committee will review its current plans and programs with the goal of creating an improved framework and structure for wheelchair fencing, which focuses as much on athlete development as it does high performance.”
