CANADA’S YOUNG FENCERS TAKE HOME THREE MEDALS AT THE NORTH AMERICAN CUP (NAC)
Canada took home three medals this past weekend at the North American Cup in Cleveland, Ohio. Angle (Ruien) Xiao(VGO, Ontario) won bronze in Y-12 Women’s Epee, defeating Meka Leach (USA) 15-7 in the quarter finals to advance to the semifinals. Xiao then lost a close bout to Lili Nelson-Love (USA) 15-14 to finish in third place.
Anne Wang(TFC, Ontario) defeated Gillian Schultz (USA) 15-11 in Division 3 Women’s Epee in the quarter finals. Wang then lost to Arianne Ahuja (USA) 15-9, to take home Canada’s second bronze medal.
Zhengnan (Janet) Chen(DYN, British Columbia), Jiahe (Heidi) Ding(DYN, British Columbia), XiaoQi (Angelica) Sun(DYN, British Columbia), and Heidi Zhu(DYN, British Columbia) took home silver as team Dynamo Fencing Club for Y-14 Women’s Epee Team. After defeating team MNM 44-43 to move onto the finals, the team lost a close match in the finals to team Four Pentateers 44-43.
