On Friday October 24th, Canadian military fencers will be honoured at the Canadian Forces Sports Awards in Ottawa. Fencing has two nominees being recognised.

Female Naval Athlete of the Year winner Lt(N) Chantel Helwer is in the running for Canadian Forces Female Athlete of the Year.

In Individual Sport, the Royal Military College of Canada Men's Fencing Team, is nominated in the Individual Sport Team of the Year category, for their outstanding gold medal win in Belgium last season against many other European military fencing teams at the Challenge du Commandant at the Royal Military Academy Belgium, as well as individual and team successes in the OUA University League.
