CHANGES TO NATIONAL COMPETITIONS AND REQUEST FOR BIDS FOR 2024-2025

By CFF April 24, 2024

The hosting bid process and criteria as well as the bid form for next season’s competitions can be found here. Please note the deadline of May 31, 2024.

New for next season:

  • there will be a fourth competition added to the schedule
  • cadets (born 2008) and juniors (born 2005) will age out following cadet/junior world championships in April 2025, and as a result the cadet/junior nationals will take place in February instead of May
  • in order to have our best seniors attend their national championships and avoid conflicts with the many world cups in May, senior nationals will take place at the end of September, which will be a combined Canada Cup for some of the other age groups
  • we will add a Y14/U15 event to the fall Canada Cup and Y12/U13 & Y14/U15 events to the February Canada Cup
  • currently senior events are restricted to those fencers aged 13 and up. Going forward, any U13 athlete who wins a medal in cadet or junior at a Canada Cup will be given a wildcard spot in senior
  • All hosts receive a hosting grant of 10% of the profits with a minimum amount of $3,000, which is above and beyond any costs related to staging the event
