It is with great sadness that the CFF has learned of the passing of Dr. Hugh Munby, a long-time Head Coach of the Queen’s University’s Varsity Fencing Team, a former Vice President of the Ontario Fencing Association, and a lifelong advocate of the sport of fencing.

Dr. Munby has been pivotal in preserving and growing collegiate fencing in Ontario, and a was himself a model of the Long-Term Athlete Development lifestyle, completing the requirements of his Maître d’Armes designation in his mid-70’s and keeping active on the strip for as long as his health permitted him.

The CFF would like to express its deepest condolences to Dr. Munby’s family and the Queen’s fencing community.
