Canadian Fencers Strike Gold at the January North America Cup in Ohio

Fencers were welcomed from across Canada and the US to the January North America Cup (NAC) in Columbus, Ohio.

 

2016 Olympian Eleanor Harvey (Hamilton, ON) continued to prove her fencing prowess as she dominated in Division I Women’s Foil taking top spot and earning gold.

Close behind was 2015 Pan Am Games athlete Kelleigh Ryan (Ottawa, ON) who skillfully moved through the poules to finish tied for 3rd.

Also earning bronze was Marc-Antoine Blais-Belanger (Montreal, QC), who did not disappoint in his effort to challenge his opponents in Division I Men’s Epee.

Junior Men’s Epee was the last event to finish and saw Richmond, BC’s Dylan French defeat Oregon’s Henry Lange in an exciting match for gold.

  • Fares Arfa (Laval, QC ) – Division I Men’s Saber – T13th
  • Angelia Li (Toronto, ON) – Division I Women’s Foil – 14th
  • Francois Cauchon (Montreal, QC) – Junior Men’s Saber – 15th
  • Rachel Lamarre (Blainville, Quebec) – Division I Women’s Sabre – 16th
  • Naomi Moindrot-Zilliox (Saint-Lambert, QC) – Junior Women’s Foil – 16th
