By CFF October 28, 2019

The Veterans Fencing World Championships were held October 5th-11th in Cairo, attended by seventeen Canadian fencers of various ages and fencing disciplines.

Mark Ballard of Toronto had the best finish of all Canadian fencers at the Championships, finishing 8th in Men’s Epee 60+, and 15th in Men’s Foil 60+. At the Gala Dinner, Ballard received a certificate from the FIE for participating in 15 World Championships.

A notable finish by Grace Born of British Columbia, who competed in Women’s Sabre 60+, came in 10th with a steady performance of four victories in the pools, winning her first DE, however sadly losing her second. Similarly, Gaby Weisz found success in his first DE, but like Born, fell in his second.
