Canadians participate in Veterans Fencing World Championships

The 2014 Veterans Fencing World Championships started today in Debrecen, Hungary and take place until October 26th. This is the 18th edition of the Championships with 668 athletes taking part (431 men & 238 women) from 43 countries.

A total of 14 Canadian fencers have qualified and made the trip to Hungary to take part in the event for top fencers in the A (50+), B (60+) and C (70+) age categories. Representing Canada are:

Women’s Epee A & Women’s Foil A:  Sylvie Guichaova, Gabriela Shand

Women’s Sabre A: Grace Born

Men’s Epee A: Bela Suveg, Franck Fournier

Men’s Epee B: Robert McLean, Mark Ballard, Claude Plasse

Men’s Epee C: Howard Simmons

Men’s Foil A: Dominique Teisseire, Paul Warren

Men’s Foil B: Mark Ballard

Men’s Foil C: Gaby Weisz

Men’s Sabre A: Mike Krasnich, Dale Dorosh

Canada will also be fielding teams in Men’s Foil and Men’s Epee.
