Fencing Coach Development Contractor

The Canadian Fencing Federation (CFF) is the national non-profit organization that governs the sport of fencing in Canada. The CFF is seeking a motivated, energetic and action-oriented contractor to oversee coach development for fencing in Canada.

Job Description

The Coach Development Contractor is responsible for overseeing the development, communication and implementation of NCCP and LTAD programs working closely with fencing’s provincial and territorial sport organizations.

This includes the organization and administration of NCCP programming, coach mentorship guidance, coach education, coach resource development, LTAD education, armband program development and any other development opportunities throughout the country aimed at increasing the number of fencers and coaches in Canada.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, train, and assist PSO’s to deliver NCCP courses across the country
  • Educate the fencing community about LTAD and participant pathways
  • Work with PSO’s and clubs to create mentorship programs
  • Create coaching resources, webinars, and offer clinics/seminars to help overall coach education
  • Work closely with the CFF’s Development Committee on the implementation and delivery of the Armband Program
  • Follow up with all trained coaches to help complete the certification process
  • Identify and participate in yearly professional development and other coaching education opportunities outside of the NCCP
  • Create resources to help educate coaches (i.e. website, blog/newsletter, webinars, videos, book reviews, suggested resource lists, etc.)
  • Work to provide targeted opportunities for women in coaching

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent communication and strong writing skills
  • A current understanding of the sport of fencing in Canada
  • A current understanding of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP)
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills and an ability to complete projects in a timely fashion
  • Aptitude with computers and technology
  • An ability to communicate in both official languages preferred

Experience and Qualifications

  • A post-secondary level of education is desirable
  • NCCP certified and demonstrated experience in working with coach certification
