By admin May 4, 2016

The CFF is pleased to announce that Frank Meunier has joined the organization as a director of the Board.  The CFF Board of Directors has appointed Meunier to fulfill one of the vacant positions on the Board, with the position to be formally ratified at the 2016 Annual General Meeting in August.

Meunier comes to the Board with a wealth of experience in governance in both sport and non-profit sectors.  He was formerly the President of Water Polo Canada for six years, with two years of Board experience before taking on that role.  He was also a board member for Freestyle Ski Canada for two years and was a COC session member for five years.  He was Vice President of Aquatics Canada, the body that oversees all of the aquatic sports in their relationships with FINA, the world organization for Aquatics.  On the event side, he was a member of the board for the FINA 2014 World Masters Games which saw 10,000 athletes from around the world take part in aquatics events in Quebec, and  has an active role as a member of a high performance planning committee which brought the 2013 Canada Games to Sherbrooke.

In his past, Meunier has also held board of director positions in the education, theatre and musical orchestra sectors.  A lifelong learner, Meunier has a bachelor's degree in Physics with a minor in Philosophy, a Master's Degree in Sciences focusing on artificial intelligence and a doctorate in Sciences focussing on applied mathematics.  This education served him well in his lengthy career in high tech.  He currently has his own company that focusses on strategic partnerships, planning, financing and marketing of new technology.

Meunier came to fencing through his son who was a member of the Club d'escrime Sher Larmes in Sherbrooke, Quebec.  Meunier took on the role of President of the Club which stimulated his interest in our sport and the desire to help the CFF achieve its strategic objectives as outlined in its plan 2020.

We are pleased to have Frank Meunier join the CFF and look forward to benefitting from his extensive knowledge and experience in governance and planning.
