Ottawa- April 4, 2019 – The Canadian Fencing Federation (CFF) has joined the movement with Respect Group in becoming Respect Certified.  The Respect group delivers training with the education and skills needed to prevent bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination (BAHD), and will be a mandatory requirement for all activity leaders, volunteers and staff who are directly involved in CFF programming.  Training for parents is also available and offered through the CFF’s Respect portal.

Respect Group was incorporated on April 5th, 2004 by co-founders, Sheldon Kennedy and Wayne McNeil, to pursue their common passion: the prevention of bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination (BAHD). Respect Group is made up of a team of over 30 talented individuals whose passion is to create a global culture of Respect. As Canada’s leading on-line provider of prevention education related to BAHD, Respect Group has certified over 1.2 Million Canadians involved in sport, schools and the workplace.

The CFF will be implementing the training over the next year.  The training is available to all CFF license holders and the Respect training platform can be accessed by all PSO’s and clubs.  The cost is $30.00 for the Activity Leader and Staff training, while the Parent training is $20.00.  Re-certification is required every four years.
